Converting to BBB
Hey there,
Glad to be on the Pool Forum.
I've been reading the posts here for a while and am glad there's a place like this.
I'm posting because I'm near the end of the conversion process to the BBB method and need some advice. I've been adding the right amounts of bleach each night to bring the chlorine to 15 ppm. At first it just dyed the water green (I was expecting more pretty colors!), but the bacquacil was already almost gone from having let it sit for a few weeks. Now the water is crystal clear and *very* inviting (finally; it was almost never like that with the Bacquacil), and I know I'm done adding tons of bleach every night when it stays near 15ppm overnight. My test kit I have right now is pretty crummy, though, and I can't measure levels that high.
So the question is, how do I know when I'm done, exactly? Another question is, what will happen if I don't change my filter medium (sand) right away? I know you're supposed to right after you're done with the bleach, but I'm curious as to what happens if you don't.
Thanks for your help,
Peter
