    This is what they did.
    Truck with filter.

    add chemicals.

    looks like milk.

1 to 4" deep sucked thru the filters in the truck.

they estimated 600 to 800 lbs of calcium "paste" taken out of my pool.

Readjusted adding acid back to the pool.
Pool was a little green looking. Ran the filter over night.
This morning water is sparkling. Water is very soft. Feels slippery like a soft water shower. A side benefit is my pump pressure dropped. I had problems keeping it below 25psi but now it has dropped to 15.
    Overall I am amazed.
    update----
    Just tested the pool
Total hardness down to 500 from off the chart of over 2000.
TC stayed the same at one but is rising as the swg is much happier.
    FC ditto
PH down to 7 from off the chart 8.4+
TA down to 60 from over 240
CY down to 30-50 from over 300 (i am told the old cy reading was not accurate as the ph and the ta were off the chart.

Sorry but I have no idea.
I believe the guy who strated the company moved here and used to manage a waste water treatment company. He didn't like the hardness of his pool and started experimenting. The hard part was developing a system to suck and filter the calsium.

What was the cost of this service? I live in Chandler I drained and refilled my pool in April due to high CYA and my water bill only went up about $20 or so.
As of last night my CH was 350, and yes I am on city water
