I don't think life or function are affected much either way. What does matter is keeping the pump up out of the water, leaves and dirt.
My 4 year old Pentair SuperFlo refused to start this week. The shaft appeared to be seized. I just ordered a WhisperFlo and will be installing it in a couple of days. My equipment sits on a concrete pad. Should I bolt down the new pump? The old pump was screwed down loosely with a couple of Tapcon concrete screws (they were rusted and essentially doing nothing).
If I should secure the new pump to the pad, what's the recommended fastener? Should I put a rubber mat of some sort under it for vibration?
Thanks!
Ken
