First time adding cya

Why couldn't you simply add it to a bucket of warm/hot water let it dissolve then add to the pool or through the skimmer to disperse it?

For me, that's the way I first tried to add CYA last year. Problem was...it just kind of sat there in the bucket of warm water. Agitating didn't help much. Mostly, I ended up with a bucket of cloudy, white water and a clumped up glob of CYA at the bottom that went through the plumbing as wet flakes.

Now, I use the pantyhose trick and throw it in the skimmer where it can take all the time it wants to dissolve, usually not that much for me, maybe 2-4 days. And it IS all dissolved, as there are no flakes left in the pantyhose.
