    Default Test Results

Hi, newbie here. I have been reading all the other posts and I'm still confused on my test results today. Here's what I've got:

    Intex - 3500 - 3700 gal
    Solar Cover

    Test kit: Walmart 6-Way

    TH - 200 ppm
    FC - 0 ppm
    PH - 8.4 ppm
    TA - 180 ppm
    CYA - 30-50 ppm

If I'm understanding correctly, my PH is high? Whenever I test my FC is always "0" as well. Any information would be appreciated.

You are right that your ph is high. A good range for ph is 7.4-7.6, but anywhere between 7.2-7.8 is OK. You can use some muriatic acid to lower it. You also need to get some chlorine in your pool or it is going to turn green! With a cya of 30-50, you need to maintain chlorine between 3-6 all the time. Use the bleach calculator at the following link to determine how much plain, unscented laundry bleach you should add. In the upper left-hand corner you will find other calcs.

Also, read through a lot of other posts on the forum and at the sister site www.poolsolutions.com. Welcome to the forum!

Thank you, Watermom. Could you please repost the calculator link again. I can't get the previous link to come up.
