hi all..newbie...sand filter issues

Water can pour out of any opening near the pump or filter IF

1. The piping at that point is below water level, OR

2. There is filled piping that is ABOVE the filter, etc., OR

3. The filter is most full of water but ALSO full of pressurized air.

There may be other possibilities I haven't remembered; you'd have to post pics for me to see (instructions: http://pool9.net/postpix/)

It does sound like you may have a gasket problem, but again, without knowing more I can't be sure.
