    Default Adding CYA

We have just purchased CYA for our pool, finally got it where it should be chemically. The question is, should it be added into the pool directly? The place we bought it from said to put it into a sock and let it slowly dissolve.
    Thanks for any help!

It's your choice - you can either add it into the skimmer or put it in a sock as they suggest. (If you have a sand filter and pour it into the skimmer, don't backwash for at least 5 days). Since it dissolves slowly, it's probably not the best thing to put it directly into the pool. Wait at least 5 days after you put it in to test for CYA.

If you add the CYA to a sock and drop it into your pool, is it safe for kids to go swimming while it's still dissolving?

    Thanks!

Safe? Sure....unless they rip it open.

What are the chances of that?
