Ortega valve repair

My question reaaly was if I can open the Ortega valve (thereby letting some air in) and close it back up without any adverse effects.

There's always the possibility that you're the victim of some totally weird piping that would result in problems if you open the valve . . . but NORMALLY it should be not be a problem.
