    A very common problem. If you have a concrete IG pool, the simplest solution is to drain and refill. You don't have to do that, but it is simpler, especially if you are new to pools.

    REGARDLESS, you have to learn to manage your CYA level -- which, among other things, means not trusting pool store testing AND learning to test accurately yourself.

    Meanwhile, you need to keep your chlorine level at at least 10% of your CYA level . . . which means you need to maintain FC > 10 ppm (very dark yellow with OTO drops).

    If you're ready to start learning, get a Taylor K2006 kit. Be *sure* to watch the videos; the CYA test is a bit tricky. http://pool9.net/tk/
