    Default Hayward EC75A

I just conn my system together. I have a Hayward EC75A, a 1 1/2 HP Hayward Pump and a LAARS -Pool & Spa heater 180,000 BTU Pool Heater.
The heater hasn't worked for 5 years now. I was In a Major Car Crash and lost my leg, and o yeah......NO ONE maintained anything, that's why the heater doesn't work and why I had to change the pump and filter!

Well I had to repipe the entire system last year because I was sucking in air on the IN side of the filter. Well this year ( Monday 7/16) The pump started right up and filtering just like it should. I do have some minor leaks on the OUT side f the filter which really doesn't affect the system.

For some reason, the system runs fine for about an hour, then the pressure in the pump rises, and there is NO return flow to the pool. I have to keep Bumping it to try to get the pool clean. I went to Backwash the pool ans the valve handle snapped. I'm sure some of you have been in this spot. Well it arrives tomm and I'm hoping it fixes the problem?
Does anyone have any other Ideas of what could be Wrong? Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated!!!
    Thank You
    Joe

    Hi Joe;

    Sorry about your troubles.

Regarding your pool, I'd have to say after being more or less (understandably!) abandoned for several years, there's no telling what all is wrong. Somebody else may have a better idea, but the only way I know to handle it, is to inspect the pool, fix the obvious problems, and then fix the others as they appear.

    Good luck!

    Hey Doc,
Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, I understand what you are saying, but I don't think you quite understood me, or I really didn't explain my sit very clearly! Yes, the rest of the Family did kind of neglect to take care of the pool like I would have, Like 1 year my Brother -in-Law hooked it up, another 2 years my son hooked it up, my Wife Tried to hook it up and ahhhhhhhhhhhhh nuthin but probs after tat. But for the last 3 years, I have been doing all the maintenance. Last year I had suction problems on the in side of the filter and naturally, the filter wont work without a Proper seal on the in side! A few drips here and the on the out side of the filter, doesn't really matter that much. Just seems like anyone that touched my system, didn't understand the Basics of how a filter even runs...ya know what I mean? Well, I did fid a fairly major leak in the fiter itself, actually the backwash Ball valve was leaking and the system was pulling in air. So I Over tighten the joint and the ball wouldn't turn and it actually snapped off in my hand lol. The ONLY Pool store within 30 miles of me is ( I don't want to sya the name.then again I do) But he Is a Total ripoff artist. The valve I needed was $47.50 fro him, So I came home and checked out some prices on line, and got it for $17.95 I mean I can see making a profit, but just knowing that the only competition for 30 miles just closed their doors this year doesn't give you the right to triple charge people . Anyway, the part we ordered was the wrong part. But I was able to backwash, just had to let it fly out of te valve witout the ose, but the filter works fine and I found a place that has the right Valve for !7.95. So it's all gonna work out fine!!!! The vale was the SP073, but a diff version of the one Not shown because there ws no picture lmao.
Believe it or not, we found what we (I) Needed on Amazon!!! The good thing about buying from them Is, you have a 30 day return window.....and that's with FREE return shiping!! So all seems to be working out well now that I able to do the maintenance on the system.
Thanks sooo much for takin the time to listen to my post!!! That was really Nice of You!!! I mean I really know my shtuff lol, but trying to explain it to someone that doesn't understand the concept of how a system works , is Hard to do!
But things are running good, Thank You.
You're prob saying .why is this guy just opening his pool now, June 10th??? Well it's because my neighbor has a Honey Locust Tree 2 feet from my fence line about 70 foot tall, and it's the Messiest tree in NA!!!! It actually snows in my yard for 2 weeks with seedpods, then snows for another 2 with flowers. It's a nightmare. We have opened the pol earlier just having to clean out 4-5 inches of crap off the top of the pool. It was so annoying, we just wait till the 3rd week in May, and that sucks because we have a 180,000 BTU heater, that heats the pool to about 100 Deg F in about 4-5 hours..and we cant even use it. Same goes for the Fall. We have to close it month and a half earlier than we can because of the mess from tree ( That wont b there next year) Lmao NO BS...I've had it!!!!
But Really, Thank you for being so kind and responding to my...annoyance I guess we could call it!!!
    Your On The Money!!!!!
    Thanks Again,
    Joe
And Pool Doc, would it be OK for me to keep u in a list of contacts, because you Really seem to know what your talking about!!! ?
