Default Where do you buy bleach????

I keep seeing Aldis, Mennards and the like. Im in northern Ca. we have none of those, no Piggly Wiggly most hardware stores don't have it. Walmart and Safeway still wave it for about 3.45 a gallon ( or whatever that is). I noticed Chem Geek is in San Rafael so he's probably buying his from Nordstrom's Rack Just wondered what everybody else is doing
13000 gallon fiberglass, variable speed pump, cartridge filter, chlorine sanitized ,k-2006, also daily 5 item check ( ch, ph,ta,)
I only trust the k-2006 titration is better for me

We get our bleach at Aldi, but since you don't have that option, you might look at this
    http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-121-o...8211/203420868

The MSDS says it is 8.25% regular bleach - Sodium Hypochlorite. Here in the Dallas area, it's about $3.00 for 121 oz.
    Intex 15ftx4ft 4500 gal. 3/4 HP Pentair WhisperFlo pump. Hayward 21" sand filter. Taylor K-2006 & K-1106 kits. PF=27

Fresh 12.5% commercial bleach is readily available from some pool stores, often in reusable multi-gallon containers. South Florida is the only area where this is consistently the case, but it is also true of other areas, on a hit or miss basis.

    It's worth checking into.

But, do NOT buy stale boxed bleach -- it tends to cost more and but be stale.

Very funny. I actually buy 12.5% chlorinating liquid which is Hasa brand from Herb's Pool Service. I think it's around $3.80 per gallon if I'm not mistaken. I buy a case of 4 gallons at a time and return the case and bottles to exchange for a new one (there's a refundable deposit on the bottles and case).

    Wow.

I wonder what the price of bulk bleach is now? The last time I bought a tanker load of 15% (fresh, so about 17%) bleach, I paid about $0.87/gallon for 4,000 gallons. It's been about 15 years, though.

Oh, by the way Richard, Powell Fab has recently come out with a process for 30% bleach:

Cool. Though in practice one still buys 15% or less concentration, but it's nice to know it lasts about twice as long and also will build up salt in the pool more slowly.

That would be cheap if it really is 12.5%, though often the higher percentage bleach is not as high as advertised.

I don't know if it's a midwest thing or not, but a store in Madison, WI that I use sells 12.5% sodium hypochlorite for $12.49 for 5 gallons ($2.50/gallon.) It's a heck of a drive, so I have to tack on the cost of a tank of gas for the round trip though.
