Default Newbie lowering water level on above ground pool

We are in our new house that has a 24' circular pool 52" high. I know that the water level is required to be about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up the skimmer for proper pump filtration. The problem I have is that my 6 year old daughter is still too short to stand in the pool at that level without being underwater. Is there any type of adapter that can be purchased that can allow me to keep a lower water level?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

    Not that I'm aware of.

It would be possible to drain the pool, recut the skimmer hole through the wall panel, and liner . . . but that would make a mess of your liner and pool wall.

I will say that neither of my boys really knew pools had bottoms till they were 8 or 9; they always swam in commercial pools that were too deep for them to touch bottom. It never kept them out of the water, and both became competitive swimmers. They both now swim Masters.

I have to agree with Ben, do not mess with the pool. Use inflatables for a while, teach the kids to swim and problem solved. I raised four daughters in above ground pools. They loved every minute of that pool long before they could ever touch bottom. They all went on to swim team competition and a summer lifeguard job. We are a family of fish,

But anyway, I have been asked a million times, how can I lower the water level for a few years? If you raise the sand base a foot, the bottom is so mushy and full of foot prints it is not worth it. If you lower the water level you leave that much more liner exposed to the sun and ready for dry rot. If you must drop the water level, put a metal plate over the skimmer and return openings, tape them in place. You can then go over top of the wall with a suction and return line. There are even over the wall skimmers that can be adapted to this type of situation.

    Hope this helps, Dennis

    Thx, Dennis.

(I didn't know there were any guys besides my myself, whose families actually LIKE the water. Just about every pool guy I've known, hates pools and swimming!)
