Re: Newbie lowering water level on above ground pool
I have to agree with Ben, do not mess with the pool. Use inflatables for a while, teach the kids to swim and problem solved. I raised four daughters in above ground pools. They loved every minute of that pool long before they could ever touch bottom. They all went on to swim team competition and a summer lifeguard job. We are a family of fish,
But anyway, I have been asked a million times, how can I lower the water level for a few years? If you raise the sand base a foot, the bottom is so mushy and full of foot prints it is not worth it. If you lower the water level you leave that much more liner exposed to the sun and ready for dry rot. If you must drop the water level, put a metal plate over the skimmer and return openings, tape them in place. You can then go over top of the wall with a suction and return line. There are even over the wall skimmers that can be adapted to this type of situation.
Hope this helps, Dennis
