It would be green and your water may be cloudy depending on how bad the algae is. Sounds like if you do have algae, it is minimal.

Is there a way to bypass the filter - maybe recirculate? A DE filter will clog quick with live algae. Get adequate chlorine in before the algae is not minimal.
