Default Cloudy Water After Green to Clean Treatment

Hey everyone i went over to leslies pools last weekend and bought everything i needed to do the green to clean treatment on my 10k gal pool. I did everything by the book and all the algae i had is dead yet my pool is sill cloudy as heck. I used leslies clarifyer and no such luck. Any suggestions. I dont have a test kit for the pool as of yet. I have to wait till my landlord can bring it over.

Most of the suggestions we have, won't help you. (Don't use Green to Clean, get a good test kit before starting, etc.) If you've read here much, you'll have probably realized that we don't think highly of "doing everything by the book", unless it's OUR book. (Another pool forum follows pretty much the same rules developed here.)

But if you've successfully killed all the algae, that is ALL "Green to Clean' is supposed to do; it does NOT remove dead algae from the water. You can remove algae by
    1. Filtering it out, OR
    2. Letting it settle (possibly with the help of floc), and then vacuuming it to waste.

You can't remover it chemically, at least not with any methods that won't damage your pool.

    Good luck!

Default HELP Totally New to this.

Hey everyone name is Matt. Just moved into a room in a house that has a 9,1?? gal pool. Since the man of the house passed away i have been asked to keep the pool up and running as best as possible. Well it was completely Cover in algae when i moved in and i finally use the green to clean method of doing it. (BIG MISTAKE I KNOW) So now all the algae is outta the pool by way of using the vaccum, I need to get the cloudiness out of the water. I tried using a clarifier but no help there. So i was told to test my chlorine level well there isnt one. Im sure thats a problem right there. So im at a total lost at what im suppose to do or not suppose to do. Can anyone lend a helping hand????

    Matt,
I merged your other thread with this one. Instead of starting a new thread about basically the same problem, let's keep it all in one place. Thx!

What kind of test kit are you using? Can you post some current water testing numbers taken with a drops-based kit? Can you list everything you have added to the pool, meaning ingredients and not just product names? Also, what size is the pump and what type and size is the filter?

+ Start adding plain 8% store bleach, at the rate of 1/2 gallon per 10,000 gallons of pool water -- added each EVENING.

+ Read http://pool9.net/ma/, then buy a gallon of muriatic acid. Begin dosing at approximately 1/4 gallon per 10,000 gallons of pool water.

+ Tell us who's responsible for the pool: you or the landlord? Who pays for chemicals and maintenance.

Im Just Responsible for the cleaning and up keeping of the pool. The landlord and her son pay for all the chemicals and supplies.

    OK.

I was thinking that something like that was going on.

I'm sorry, but our 'help model' assumes we're talking to someone with the ability to decide, and execute those decisions. We discovered a long time ago, that things broke down if the person we're talking do isn't actually able to do what we suggest . . . because they aren't really the one in charge.

In truth, your landlord or her son need to be the ones asking questions here. This time of year, we're so far behind it makes no sense for us to spend lots of time with someone we can't really help.

    But you're welcome to read.

    Good luck!

    Best wishes.
