    Default Hey there

Hi, new forum member saying hello. We've just bought a house with a pool, and I know absolutely nothing about maintaining it - so expect some dumb questions!

There are no dumb first-time questions! Read our stickied thread, and visit our sister site, poolsolutions.com for lots of great information.

Check out the tip on pool chemicals at your grocery store. Most of us maintain our pools with bleach, Borax, baking soda, washing soda, and Muriatic Acid--all available at grocery and hardware stores.

You'll learn the MOST important tool you have is a good test kit--we recommend the Taylor Technologies K-2006 and K-2006C kits, available on line and by clicking on the bottom of either PoolDoc's or WaterMom's signature.

Pool care is a lot simpler than pool stores and pool service companies would have you think. Mainly you keep your sanitation level (chlorine) up, and keep your pH (Acid/Base balance) pretty neutral, plus a couple of other things and VOILA! A sweet, clear, sanitary pool to enjoy!
