The basics are all over the forum, especially the stickied threads at the top of the various subsections of the forum, the guides in my or PoolDoc's signatures and also on our sister website www.poolsolutions.com.

Tell us about your pool and equipment and if there any questions you need help with.

    Welcome to the Pool Forum!

    . . . membership upgraded.

+ If your pool is freshly filled, you can use the 'Super-simple recipe' => http://pool9.net/ssr

+ If you are in doubt, and don't want to your pool to turn green, and don't have copper or other metals in your pool water, you can use PLAIN bleach, like this www.walmart.com/ip/13023480

1/2 gallon EACH EVENING per 10,000 gallons of pool water will 'keep' most pools for an extended period. If your pool is lightly green, 1 gallon per 10K gallons will usually work. f you've got a swamp, it's better to know more. Adding bleach or other chemicals is useless UNLESS you are ready to use enough to be FULLY effective.

+ For more specific info, you need to tell us what kind of pool you've got.
