What sort of pool & filter do you have?
The SuperPump is a highly reliable old line pump with great self-priming (and vacuuming) capability. The Super2 is a more efficient pump that trades suction and self-priming for high pressure and greater flow. The TriStar is an even more efficient pump, that had reliability problems when released over a decade ago. I believe those are resolved now, but it's unlikely either pump will rival the SuperPump in that aspect -- those antiques often run for 15+ years.

I don't know what to call the filter I have but it is a cartridge type filter in a tan bullet looking case, the top unscrews and the filter lifts out...
The pool is an in ground fiberglass type...thank you!

My currant pump is a 1 hp and I have read where I could have problems if I increase the hp...what do you think...???
Looking at the Super Pump 1hp I am finding this SP2607X10...
I see that it has 1-1/2" pipe and mine has 2" pipe...not a problem...???
Need actual pump / filter label info.
2" piping is good -- regardless of what pump you get.
Taking pictures and posting them (Flickr, Photobucket, Picasa) or sending them to poolforum@gmail.com would make it much easier to make a useful recommendation.
