    Default buying new pool

hello everyone, my apologies for the ignorance in this question but i am new to the pool world. I have been trying to do my due diligence and have quotes from reputable pool stores in the area and thoroughly do my research.

We are buying an above ground 15x26 pool but are stuck between having a salt water generator installed or the clear blue ionizer with the the automatic chlorinator. Any suggestions. Ive read some varying comments on both systems, good and bad but am leaning towards the ionizer with chlorine due to the reduced chlorine levels. I don't want to through money away for nothing, but both systems cost roughly the same to buy and set up. THanks for the help.

Virtually EVERYONE here will tell you that the ionizer is a total waste of money. We'll also tell you that a properly maintained SWCG WILL use less chlorine. You generally need your FC level to be about 5% of your stabilizer level. So if your stabilizer is 50ppm, your FC should be at least 2.5ppm

Also, most people here don't worry about high FC (free chlorine) levels, but rather high levels of CC (Combined chlorine/chloramines), or low/hi pH levels.

We have the saltron retro salt water generator, it is totally separate from the filter so for a reasonable cost you could try salt for a year, and if you don't like it you just pull it out of the pool and go back to chlorine or bleach. we're happy with it so far, readings are good and sufficient for our 24' round.
