Angry Just got a Best Way pool

I set up a bestway 14 x 48 pool and unfortunately filled it and put one back of ez shock in it. Now what? I apologize if I am posting a repeat, but I don't know where to look first. I had an intex before and did fine. I have a saltwater filter and sand pump as well, but this pool is new.

You could try Ben's Super-simple pool chemistry recipe for Intex type pools: start-up & routine care. http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php?17055. You'll probably have to log out to see it.

Intex, Polygroup (Summer Escapes) & Best Way are all Chinese pool manufacturers.

=> Intex has established a reputation of terrific value for the dollar, along with fair customer service.

=> Summer Escapes, sold by Walmart & Sams Club, is even cheaper, but has had erratic product quality and even worse customer service. They may be trying to come back -- they've posted a contact phone number again. But if you buy Summer Escapes, I'd recommend that you get the pool installed and running within the week, so you can test it, and return it to Walmart or Sams within the 30 days. If it fails after 30 days, you are likely to be S.O.L.

=> Best Way is newer to the market, and I simply know nothing about how they are doing. They are listing full contact info:
    http://bestway-northamerica.com/contact
    Bestway (USA) Inc
    3249 E. Harbour Drive,
    Phoenix, AZ 85034 United States
    Tel: 855 838 3888 Fax: 480 838 1888
and their physical location seems reasonable for an importer:
    http://goo.gl/maps/d8rOz
BUT, I'd recommend that you know how to return the pool, and who will take it back, BEFORE you buy.

If you do get a Best Way, please post your results, so we can do a better job with the next person who asks.

I previously owned an intex 14 x 42. I bought the bestway and it seems to be fine. My question is what do I do for starting it up. It is filled and I am just using chlorine tablets until it gets a little warmer.

I'm glad your pool is OK; perhaps Best Way is like Summer Escapes, which have erratic product quality, rather than products that are consistently bad. It seems that if you get a good S-E pool, it will be fine.

As far as getting started, most people seem to find the "Recipe" that Big Dave pointed out to be the easiest way. If you drain your pool annually, you can use that method permanently. If not, you'll need to get a more elaborate test kit and follow 'big pool' methods the 2nd year of operation.

We were looking to purchase an Intex pool this year as well, but unfortunately the only (similar pool) available in our area when we were ready to make our purchase was a Bestway brand (Hydro Force Steel Pro). As there are not many available reviews online specific to the brand and model we purchased, I can only hope that no news is good news. We will be setting up in just a little over three months, so here's hoping all goes smoothly

I would encourage you to set it up ASAP, even if you have to take it down. In many cases, you may have only 30 days for a 100% return. So, if you find a problem after that you have to work through the manufacturer's warranty process. At best, that will be total PITA.

OOPs...that was a type-o, meant to say three weeks. Fortunately we had 90 days from date of purchase to return for refund at point of sale as well as a 1 yr exchange warranty privilege with our retailer.
