    Default Aquadoor 1020

Hi All! New owner of an old pool. I need to replace the skimmer faceplate on my doughboy pool. I see the Aquadoor 1020 can be ordered with a new faceplate. Has anyone used this device? Looks like it would be nice not to drain the water below the skimmer every year. Otherwise, I'll just get a new faceplate from my local dealer. Thanks, Rob

    Hi Rob and welcome!

I don't know WHICH Aquadoor model I have, but I've had one for my pool for 11 years now. It does occasionally leak--you MUST put it on very carefully, and I would suggest using a Gizmo in your skimmer or filling same skimmer with lots of foam rubber (like a cut up noodle) so that any ice that forms won't break it. Cheap insurance!

Thank you for the reply. I suspected that it may leak into the skimmer some and cause damage upon freezing, especially as the cover ages. The Gizmo/foam idea sounds like a good plan to prevent that. I'll have to give it a try!
