    Default fiberglas pools

i live in North Texas. Are fiberglas pools popular in this area? It seems that most PB's do gunite.

    thanks

Unfortunately, that's a question you're much better suited to answer, than 95% of us. I can tell you that there are definitely areas where gunite pools dominate, like south Florida and southern California.

I can also tell you that -- in my opinion -- fiberglass pools do NOT belong in areas where the ground is likely to be saturated: they will float out of the ground if there's the slightest imbalance between water in the pool, and water in the ground.

But I can't tell if north Texas is an area that uses FG pools.

Vinyl-lined and gunite/tile/plaster/(whatever) are far more common in this area than FG, but FG is used. What you can infer from Ben is that if your ground is dry, with little to no ground water and no reasonable chance of flooding, FG could be appropriate. But if conditions occur than can "float" your pool out of the ground like a boat, it's a bad idea.
