Looking for Liner and Salt water opinions

Im a new Pool owner. We bought a house with a '27 above ground pool. We know nothing about it though. I tried cleaning it to get it ready to close for winter and aparantly poke a small hole in the liner somewhere because now it is slowly draining. I did winterize it properly and covered it. Now im looking for good liner advise. By what ive researched I want a 25 mil liner? Im not sure weather im a beaded pool or overhang or what it is. Now its covered so I wont know till I uncover it in the spring.

Also what type of salt water kit should I buy? Im wanting to convert at the same time. My father in law and brother in law have in ground pools with salt water and they love them, I would like a reliable kit to enjoy also. Thanks in advance for the responses. Dustin Ball

Holes in liners can be patched, even under water, with pool patch kits, using vinyl and vinyl adhesive (Boxer Brand Adhesive is best). It's easy to tell if it's an overhang liner.

If you are a new pool owner, and it's a round AG pool, I strongly suggest you learn our B-B-B method of pool maintenance and practice it FIRST, before you invest $1000 or $2000 in a salt water chlorine generator which will NOT pay for itself.

I have an SWCG, and I love it, but I bought it with my eyes open: I'm away a lot and it allows me to maintain the pool easier not being there, but it is NOT because I hoped to save money on chlorine--I don't.

If you're can spend 2-5 minutes a day, and 15 - 30 once a week, the B-B-B system is easy, even fun, and you'll save incredible amounts of money on your pool chemicals and in NOT hiring pool services.

I didnt realize salt kits were so expensive. I asked about one from Leslies pool supply and they said it was only $280. Also I think it is time to change the liner, it is faded pretty bad above the water level and already has two patches in it. Thanks for the reply. Dustin Ball

There ARE very inexpensive SWCGs, but not for YOUR pool, which is at least 17,000 gallons. They are for pools in the 3000 to 8000 gallon range (roughly). I have at least 4 patches in my 11 year old liner. A patch is a couple of bucks. A liner + installation is lot more expensive. But...that's up to you. It's your pool.

Hi, Dustin, and welcome. If you do decide to get a new liner, just wanted to give you some info that is not always clear. In a pool liner, mil and gauge are not the same thing. Just wanted to throw that out there for you as you do your research before buying one.
