Cleaning up post-vacation algae in an Intex pool

I have an Intex Ultra 18" round. Coming back from being gone for the weekend to a very green pool. Fortunately we have a pool store that we can take our water to and they test it for free. I did this and found ph was 7.8 and Chlorine was about 0. They had me buy liquid chlorine instead of gradual as well as mustard algae killer.

My question is now that I put all that in via the directions and brushed the whole thing should I leave float skimmer running or disconnect and have water go straight in filter system?
