Default Small Intex pool ph is 8.2 or higher

My intex pool is 12ftx36". The water looks perfectly clear and test readings are all good except the high PH. All the information I've read to lower ph is in the use of muriatic acid, which has sufficiently scared me. I'm thinking I'd use a dropper amount? Any other advice on how to manage the ph without the muriatic acid? Is a high ph problematic in a small pool?

Sodium Bisulfate (Dry Acid or pH Decreaser) is eaiser to handle and store than Muriatic Acid. It's available where pool supplies are sold, often in relatively small containers. It's pricey compared to MA but in a small pool that means less. It adds sulfur to the pool water which should not be a problem if you drain this pool to store it through the winter. I'd try a dixie cup at a time (dissolved in a bucket of pool water before adding to the pool) mix it in the pool and test pH again an hour later. Repeat as needed.

I wouldn't do anything unless the pH is 7.8 or greater.

You may want to look at the SS recipe page -- I'm going to have to change the name; it's becoming more of an all purpose guide to Intex pool operation.
