Wink Shopping for an above ground pool (and learning all I can from this forum!)

    Hi!

I'm currently shopping around for an above ground pool, and from what I've read as an anonymous user, this forum has all sorts of info for me!

But now I'd like to get officially registered to view pictures, search, and post questions once I get a little further down my decision making process.

My main focus is to create an pool experience that looks like an inground pool with the above ground costs and tax advantages. To me the main point is how it finally looks, since my yard is already landscaped and this will end up adding a new (rather big) structure to the yard. At this point I'm looking at ovals (so I can swim laps) and having someone else do the installation for both pool and decking.

Looking forward to any advice people are willing to offer! Otherwise, I'll submit more specific questions once I know a bit more about what I'm doing!

    Thanks!

Most of the pictures you couldn't see (in the AG pool gallery, I'm guessing) aren't there any more, but got lost in one of the forum software upgrades.

This search string may get you some of what you want:

For an inground pool look do you mean bury the entire pool n the ground of build a deck completely around the above ground pool?

Probably the route of building a deck around the pool to somewhat hide that it's actually above ground. (I figure if I connect the pool deck to the deck leading out of the house, it'll look a bit more integrated than just sitting alone by itself. While I've seen several pools that claim they can be buried, it sounds like several people on the forums don't really recommend it - and that seems like a bigger risk if something bad happens. (Not that anything bad would ever happen, right?!)

I have purchased and installed (2) Esther Williams 16' X 30' AGPs and loved them both. The first one I bought used. It was 15 years old when I got it and it is still in operation 13 years later.

I forgat to mention that I buiried (one side) of the used EW pool due to the slope of our yard. The other side I build a multi-level deck coming off the back porch. You could jump into the pool from the yard on one side and from the deck on the other. The only issue I ever had with the pool was the automatic sweeper (old style Kreepy Krawley) wore holes in the liner where the cleaner rubbed against vertical bumps on the pool wall where the extruded panels fit together. New style Kreepy did not do this.
