    Default First timer

I'm new here but a long time inground pool owner. I'm most interested at this time in safety covers. Wife is not happy with the old cover and water bags.

We live in middle Ga. and so far this year have had no pool problems. Last year I found out I had been having a phosphate problem i was unaware of. Since correcting that my pool maintenance has been much easier.

    Look at this site: http://www.looploc.com/

I've sold their covers for years, and installed them on large commercial pools. Life expectancy on the covers is 8 - 14 years. All black lasts longer.
=> Mesh covers require that you spend some time maintaining the pool over the winter. You CAN pour bleach in through the cover.
=> Solid waterproof covers require that you spend time maintaining (or removing!) the pool that forms ON TOP of the cover.

You might can guess that my personal preference is mesh. Mesh covers also LOOK much nicer, because there's no pool, and leaves blow off the cover.

Meyco covers are also good -- they are the original mesh cover maker. Avoid Anchor. Cantar and others have entered the market in the last 10 years -- I don't know anything about their product quality.

That's the kind of info I was looking for. Anchor was one of the ones I had been looking at. What seems to be the problem with them?

    Short answer? Low quality.

Anchor covers sell for about as much as LoopLoc and Meyco, but last -- in my personal experience -- about 1/2 as long.
