Best depends on what type of pool (soft-side, AG, IG); what type of circulation system; whether you have piping for a booster pump, and more.
But, if you mean an actual electrically driven pool robot -- instead of any auto cleaner -- those perform better out West or on indoor pools or under screen covers in S. Florida, then they do in uncovered pools in areas with lots of trees and grass . . . like St. Louis. True electrical robots tend to have a hard time in areas with thunderstorms and leaves.
