Default New Intex pool startup with salt

We have just ordered a 18X48" Intex Ultra pool and also an Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater Filtration system. So I've been doing research and came across this forum for information.

I see the 7 day start up for Intex pools. Is there a link to start up using the Saltwater system? Is it the same as the 7 day start up plan?

    Thank you for the help!

You can use the 7 day plan. Just add the salt sometime after the first week, and turn the salt generator on after 2 weeks, when there is some stabilizer in the water.

Thanks for the help! Glad I found your website, I was thinking the salt system was as simple as filling the pool and turning on the salt system and the filter system and enjoy! Not that easy evidently?

    Not really.

Salt systems are Salt Water Chlorine Generation Systems (SWCG) that allow you to manufacture chlorine in small quantities, from large amounts of salt added to your pool. But, since they are fundamentally just another way to add chlorine to your pool, you STILL need to learn how to run a chlorinated pool. Actually, it's a bit more complicated with an SWCG.

The benefit of an SWCG, once you have everything set up properly and working, is that you can walk away from your pool for a week, and come back to an algae free pool with reasonable chlorine levels. In other words, a SWCG is potentially a very effective semi-automatic chlorine feed system.
