Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I've got a simple question (hopefully).
I recently bought a new salt cell for my pool. The cell is the same length, but the couplings are bigger. That means I've got to re-plumb part of the equipment. Not a huge deal, I just need some clarification on a couple of things.
First, it looks like the PVC was glued together using some sort of white compound. I've done sprinklers before and have used Red Hot Blue. What is this white stuff? Basically the same as the blue, just a different color? Is it OK to use blue when I re-plumb?
Second, I need to detach the existing plumbing from a valve (controls the solar). But, I don't know if this has been glued in. Is it typical to glue the PVC into a value? Will I be able to unscrew the PVC from the valve?

Let me know if you need more info. Thanks.
