    Question Green Monster!

Greetings! I am new to the forum but have learned a great deal by reading threads and water chemistry articles.
I am looking for some advice?

I can't snap the green out of a 25K gal pool.

    FC-2 to 3
    TC-2 to 3
    CC-0
PH-6.? to 7.? (still low, and working on getting it up)
    Total Alkalinity between 80-90

I'm afraid I have a stabilizer issue. We went out of out of town for a week before I could get chemicals stable so I floated a bunch of pucks. Came home to lime jello! I don't have a kit that tests CYA, but am running to the pool store to purchase one. On a "guess", yesterday, I did take water out of the pool (below skimmers) and put fresh water back in (city h20...we don't have hard or well water). Assuming my stabilizer level is not a good number...how do I get the chlorine to release and work?

Good day! I have completed the pool chart form and voted "like" on Facebook.
I have not been able to navigate between Forums, but would appreciate the privilege. My status is still "trial". I am not a builder or retailer of pools and spas in any way.
    Sincerest Thanks

    1. Begin adding 3 gallons of PLAIN 6% household bleach each evening.
    2. The only kit you might be able to purchase locally, that has a valid CYA test, is the HTH 6-way (NOT: 5-way) available at some Walmarts. Otherwise, order a K2006, using the link below.
    3. Use borax (Walmart detergent section) to get your pH to just above 7.0.
    4. Report CYA results once you have valid tests. Computer read test strips are NOT valid.
    5. Brush visible 2 - 3x per week.
    6. Filter 24/7
    7. Do NOT use algaecides. (Chlorine is the best algicide; copper works but isn't really chlorine compatible and causes stains and green hair; foamy algicides don't really work.)

    Thank you, PoolDoc!
I have dosed up the chlorine the last 2-3 days.
    Water is beginning to clear.
I just vacuumed to waste, then finished with filter vacuum to save water, then broadcast about 20 oz of cal hypo, and am going to bed!
I expect it to snap pretty clear tomorrow.

    thanks again!

Be sure to keep adding the 3 gallons of PLAIN 6% household bleach each evening until it clears. Getting from green to clear takes a LOT of chlorine, and if you let the chlorine level drop down the algae will bounce back.
