    Default GAS or Electric Heat?

I live in a PG&E/SMUD area: Sacramento, CA.
I currently have a balanced plan with both.
    I have a 24000 gallon free-form in-ground pool plastered.
Rarely freezes here, and winter extreme lows are in the high 40's.
Summers are close to and sometimes over 100.
I was wondering what would be cheaper to heat the pool in the fall/winter: Gas or Electric?
I currently run an AC/Heat on the roof, with a gas line.
Also there is a gas outlet next to the pool pump.
Which leads me to believe that originally the pool was heated when
the house was built in 1967.

    Thanks a bunch! Mark

"Which would be cheaper, gas or electric heat?"

    Depends on 2 factors:
    1. Which sort of electric heat were you considering, resistance or heat pump?
    2. What are your incremental gas rates; what are your incremental electric rates. (You need the incremental value, since rates for your first 1000 KWH or 100 CCF are often cheaper than for additional usage.)
