    Default Pool hum

Just replaced the impeller and now the pump hums and gets very hot quickly and trips the breaker. Is this a capacitor or another issue?

Does the impeller turn freely by hand?

It does turn freely. It worked when I first replaced the impeller but it was making some noise so I turned it off and took it back apart to make sure everything was installed properly. Hooked it back up and voila it only hums, gets real hot and trips the breaker. Thinking it might be the switch or the capacitor?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I know who will....let me get in touch with Al (Poconos) and get him to pop in here to see if he can help....

I spoke with Al and reminded him that his expertise is needed here! Hopefully he'll pop on here in the next day or so.

Quick update. Each morning I can get the pump started by turning the switch less than a full turn and turning the breaker on and it starts.
