    Do I keep adding the two gallons of bleach each evening or stop and now do what?
    Probably -- but without results, I don't know for sure. If you haven't brushed the pool completely, put your 2 gallons in, and then brush it.

    With respect to a filter, I think you are hoping for results that a new filter is unlikely to provide. I'm not aware of any Intex compatible filter system that's going to clear dead algae quickly. The Unicel cartridges I recommended above will help.

    But, if you REALLY want a high performing filter system, that will give you crystal clear water quickly, you'd need to adapt a small standard AG pool pump plus an AG DE-type filter to your pool. Here's the type of combo I mean:
    Hayward SP15922S Power-Flo Matrix Above-Ground Pump 2-Speed
    Perflex DE Filter with Valve
    That combo would clean your pool very, very quickly, and would be economical to run if you left it on low speed almost all the time, as you should. But, I am NOT recommending it -- adapting it to an Intex would be fairly tricky --- and that system will stop up instantly with LIVE algae in your pool.

    Pooldoc/ben

    I will take reading when I get home from work. I was asking about upgrading my filter that comes with the pool because I don't think they are very good. So I was looking to upgrade to just have a better pump/filter instead of using the one that came with the pool. So you gave me two choices hayward and perflex do I need both or should I pick one? That's all.... Thanks Again... Aaron

    No, the pump goes with the filter. You can't use an Intex pump with a standard type filter.. AND, I am NOT recommending that combo, especially not yet.

    I would recommend the Unicel replacement filters; they will help now. BUT, you need to learn to operate your pool as is, before you complicate it with alternative systems. You CAN run a fairly clear pool with the OEM filter & pump you have. It's easier with the Unicel cartridges.

    Pooldoc

    I understand
    Readings
    ph= 7.8
    cya = 30
    alkalinity test 20
    chlorine test (25ml 0.2ppm) 20ppm (fc)
    I can see the bottom it's still a little cloudy but I can see the bottom and I brushed it today not much on the bottom....

    Is it ok to swim? do I put the chlorine drops back the skimmer?

    Do I still need to add bleach until crystal clear?

    My kids are 8 and 4 so they want to swim today 8-24-12. JUst didn't want them to get sick....

    Thanks for all your help..... I am learning so thanks for being patient.

    Low chlorine, not high chlorine, makes kids sick! Extremely high chlorine can be irritating, but won't make anyone sick.

    Your pool is fine for swimming, but I'd have them wear old swimsuits. New ones might fade.

    Regarding bleach, high chlorine will kill algae but will not make your pool crystal clear: filtration does that.
