    Default New pool owner HELP

I just bought a house with an above ground pool. I noticed the water getting cloudy. I checked and the ph was low and I was told I needed to shock. I used the 1lb bag of shock from Walmart and the ph plus. I ran the filter all night. I got up the next morning and my pool was bright green. Please help!!!!!!

Hi, and welcome to the forum!!

Without some test results on your water (taken with drop-based testing, not strips!), we can't be of much help, since it is crucial to know your CYA levels in order to determine your correct chlorine level, and the other levels may or may not have anything to do with why your water was cloudy. Also, we need to know if there are any metals in your fill water, and need to know for sure that this was a chlorine pool and not a Bacquacil pool. What was the ingredient in the shock from Walmart that you used?

If you'll answer those questions, and fill out this short form with info about your pool, it will help us give you better advice...
