We live in eastern Nebraska and just filled our 24 ft AG round with well water. Took a sample to our LPS and it showed a pH of 7.8 and the metals were high. I started the pump this morning and added a bottle of Metal Magic and about 2 cups of muriatic acid, as I was instructed to do by the LPS. After about 8 hrs of circulation, I did a pH test and the pH was down to 6.8...I don't know how old my drops are, as I got them when we purchased the pool (used). Should I rely on those or should I get new?

You should order a new kit --- the Taylor K2006 or 2006C. You can get it through the test kit link in my signature below.

There is a sticky in the subforum called "Pool Chemistry for Intex-Type Pools" about filling a pool from a metal-contaminated well. (It is at the top of that section.) Even though it is in the Intex section, I think it would be beneficial for you to read it. Until your registration is completed, you will have to log out in order to be able to see it, though.

    Welcome to the Pool Forum!
