No, an S244T would be fine.
If you pipe the connections with unions, the filter will be MUCH easier to service, when that's needed.

I have a 25,000 gal pool with a 1 hp pump and 1 1/2" piping. The current sand filter needs to be replaced it's a old Hayward S200 series. Would a Hayward S244tT/T2 be to big? Thanks
