    Default Pool Lighting Trips GFI

My Sta-Rite wet nich 120 v halogen lights, 20 or so years old, trip the GFI. I have replaced the GFI. I suspect water leaking into the cord/potting material at the light's base. Anyone have this problem, and a way to fix it without buying a $300 new light?

It's a common problem, and no, usually there's not an easy fix. You want the really bad news?

You may not be able to replace the light! Often the conduit between the niche and the J-box is too small, or is crimped, so the light cord can't be removed or replaced!

    Sorry -- and good luck!
