Default Filter pressure rising after 3-4 hours

My filter pressure rises after about 3-4 hours of installing new DE or bumping it. I acid washed the filter today and it still rose from 14 to 20 after filtering for about 3 hours. The pool is cloudy and I had to adjust the hardness and the alkalinity, but anyone have any ideas.

Post a complete set of current water testing results taken with a drops-based kit -- no test strips. Have you recently had algae? If so, the cloudiness may be dead algae being filtered out which will cause the pressure to rise. Also, tell us exactly what all you have added to the pool -- meaning ingredients and not just 'shock.'

In addition, please put your pool's information into our pool chart to make it easier for someone here to help.

Did you acid wash, before you cleaned it with detergent? If so, you may have ruined the grids. Check your filter manual. Sorry!

However, DE filters can ALSO rise in pressure rapidly because they are WORKING -- if the filter is effectively removing whatever's in the water, it may be operating 100% normally.

. . . Also, live algae blinds off, or plugs DE filters very, very quickly sometimes in minutes.

    So . . .

    1. Read your filter manual's cleaning instructions.

    2. Get a good testkit, and then tell us what's in your pool. (Links below -- 'guess'-strips don't count!)

    3. Tell us WHAT your water looks like and WHAT you've been putting in it.
