Default 7" Main Drain Cover replacement

    Hello,

I recently moved to a house with an in-ground pool that was built in 06-07' time frame. One of my main drain covers broke, and i am having a very difficult time finding a replacement. It seems that its an odd size, at 7" in diameter. The two screw holes are 6.5" on center.

Is there something im missing? All I can find is 8" drian covers. Is there an adapter or something? Also, these aren't the anti-vortex covers so I need to upgrade them to be compliant (i believe). Is this true?

I was going to post pictures but apparently that is disabled for newer members.

Hi rick, and welcome to the forum!

You can post pics via picasa, flicker, or one of those and put a link in your post, or you can email pics to poolforum@gmail.com with a reference to this thread and Ben can upload them for you. I can't answer the question about your cover, but hopefully one of the other folks here who can will chime in shortly.

Thanks for the info, unfortunatly it looks like GLI doesnt support anything other than pool covers and liners anymore. Looks like I will have to fabricate something...an adapter plate of some sort or something like that.

If I were to switch drain covers (the current covers were rated at 88ghp) will this affect the pump performance, or will I just have to adjustments to the drain flow paths?

If you have a SS sheet metal shop in your area (restaurant supply) you can probably get them to me an SS adapter ring. Wouldn't be cheap, but it would work, and not require excavation. They should be able to do it if you take them the new drain cover, and the screw hole dimensions on the old base.

Oh trust me, im not going to be escavating anything lol (rental house). Ill make a plastic adapter ring with two sets of mounting holes. One at the original mouting screw location and one at the new cover location.
