Hi -
My new pool had shotcrete done on Tuesday 5/29/2012. Within hours, there already were these hairline cracks showing up. I live in Chandler, AZ where it is 100+ degrees during the day now. We have been religiously watering down the pool every 2-3 hours between 7:30 AM and 6 PM each day since the shotcrete went in.
My pool builder (who hasn't seen the cracks) and the shotcrete guy (who has seen them) are saying these cracks are normal, "probably" aren't deep cracks, and won't cause a crack to the pebble sheen plaster at all.
Should any treatment be done at all to these cracks? The pool builder said they would send the shotcrete guy out to patch them on Monday 6/4. Sounds like that may involve drilling out the crack and reapplying a shotcrete mix. Would the drilling be worse for the pool than just leaving the crack as it is??? Would love any expert opinions before Monday!!! I just want them to do the right thing that is best for the pool.
Thanks for the help!

My experience with new gunite construction is minimal -- all I can tell you is that, I've never liked having un-controlled cracks appear ANYWHERE in concrete I was responsible for.
I suppose you could fill it up, a couple of feet ABOVE the highest crack you are concerned about . . . and then see if the pool leaks.
