Cool Problem with new DE Filter Cartridge

Under a year old still; bought a new filter cartridge for a Sta-Rite PLD70, 27002-0036S is part number of cartridge. (old one developed a tear and was spewing out debris while running) I'm running 4lbs of DE like the book says, air bleeder assembly in place. My issue is I'm getting discharge of DE and what not, every time the pump turns on, for about 20-30 seconds. Nice big green clouds. I've fully inspected it for tears and holes all over and can find none. I took a video of the filter after just being pulled out (maybe 1 month of use at most), some spots look a little bear to me. I'll let those who know what to look for have a look. I do have a little bit of powdery green algae that grows from week to week that i have yet to treat other than chlorine. I usually just brush it off the sides when it appears. Let me know if that could be affecting how the DE does it's job though. Any help is GREATLY appreciated; you guys rock!

http://-- SORRY, NOT POSTING .wmv fi...YouTube is OK.

    Not 'it' -- me.

I don't allow active video files in hackable formats, especially from brand new members: post it on YouTube and I'll allow it.

.avi is bad too? I just didn't want to throw it up in my youtube channel; have to create a different one for random stuff like this.

I used some algaecide to kill off my algae problem and it seems to have fixed my cloud spewing issue when the pump turns on each day. Does this seem possible to anyone? Just trying to figure out wth is going on, lol.

If you use polyquat, yes. It's a clarifier / coagulent, as well as an algaecide.

Regarding videos, most of the video formats have been used as virus packages, so if it's not on YouTube, I don't want direct links.

However, a picture would have done the trick; neither DE nor cartridge filters do well with live algae. You need to kill it before worrying about filter function.

Also, it looks like you are using DE in your cartridge filter; I recently found out that this can shorten cartridge life by damaging the polyester fibers. I recommend it to find filter leaks, but I probably need to set a policy of NOT recommending it to improve filtration on cartridge filters.
