    Default Coping Stain

Our pool company opened our pool yesterday while I was out. It's a 20'X40' old sylvan that was replastered last summer (also new coping and tile). Have a mesh cover and some of the leaves/pine needles that got stuck under the cover around the pool perimeter on the coping left brown stains on the new white coping due to decomposing. Was looking for some suggestions on stain removal. I was just going to try and use bleach but thought it would be wise to check here to see what more experienced pool owners have done. Although we didn't have this problem with the old aggregate coping we used to have, I'm guessing this is a common problem.

    Thanks,

    Dave

My experience is that those stains bleach out with sun and water, over time. But, trying bleach shouldn't hurt. Acid washing WILL remove them, but it does so by stripping the top layer of the concrete, leaving what remains rougher, more porous, and more susceptible to stains. I'd try bleach and sun first.
