Leaking Pool Hazards

The pool we have at our complex has had a severe leak for what I suspect the last 2 years. Just yesterday, it was filled and left overnight without the pumps running. The water level dropped 5 inches and the pool is bigger than most condominiums in the area. My question is what are the long term affects of leaving the pool in the condition that it is currently in? I realize the water bill alone will be huge.

If you mean, will a big leak tend to do damage underground, then the answer is yes, it often will.
