I apologize if this is a duplicate post, I'm not sure if my previous reply is being moderated, or whether it got lost. I appreciate the response and apologize about the late reply. I hadn't realized anyone had responded to this thread. I emailed a few pictures to poolforum@gmail.com. These pictures show some of the damage, but are poor quality. I will make a point to get higher quality images tomorrow.
I'll provide a quick update to my original post. I managed to reduce the amount of air entering the system, it's not completely tight, but it's much better. I'm using a mesh leaf rake to remove some of the sludge from the bottom of the pool and started vacuuming directly to waste. It's a very slow process as I can't add water quick enough to vacuum for more than 10 or 15 minutes. From what I've read, using a heat gun or boiling water one can stretch the liner back into the track. I'm not sure whether i'm going to tackle this myself.
