Hi,
We have a 16x32 IG with a motorized hideaway pool cover. While repairing a corner tear in our liner, I unwittingly removed the damaged liner from the corner and the bead ended up coming off the entire 16' x 8" plastic track on the deep end wall. The problem is that with even two people holding it, we can't line it up correctly without it continually coming back out... it's too big. The track needs replacing. It's been brittle and broken for years. However, I'd like to buy a thinner (less wide) 16' track to at least get the liner affixed to the wall and then go from there.
Any tips on repairing this? I'd post pictures but I'm new here and that isn't a permission... yet at least?
Thanks

Hey.. could someone tell me what the name of this "plastic track" is officially called? I'm trying to search for it online for some leads on replacing it... thanks
Anyone?
Vinyl track repair is not anything I know about. I've alerted a couple of guys who do, about your thread -- but you have to keep in mind that the pool season hasn't started yet, and traffic here is still low.

Welcome to the Forum!
Sorry to have missed this til now!
What you are looking for is going to be a liner 'receiver' or 'track' for a cantilever deck.
It looks like your corners were done with the stuff I'm talking about but the straight walls were done with a kind I've never seen ...(on second look, it seems that it might be all the same, as I said - I've not seen this style reciever before)
See what you can look up tomorrow and post back on Fri. (so I'll be reminded) I'll tell you what should work or try to do my own search over the weekend (*I'm NOT very good with using the search functions on a computer)
Try this for a start.

Hey thanks for the information. I haven't been able to find anything that resembles the track online. The pool cover manufacturer (Cover Pools) may be able to help since they did the install. However, a previous owner had it done, and I'm guessing it's been 10-15 years since any work was completed there. (we replaced the cover in 2007)
The term "cantilever" was helpful... thanks for that. I just want to avoid draining the pool for now so even a temporary fix would suffice until we have the funds to replace the liner. I could build a ceramic tile overlay too.. it's just getting the vinyl bead firmly attached to the metal base that's troublesome...
If you follow the link I gave in my last post and click on the 'top mount' selection to the right, you'll see what I'm talking about. The track is easy to install and is a permanent fix.
As I said, I've never seen the track you have, but what I'm recommending will do the job.
When you get the new receiving track, let me know and I'll tell you how to install it and what to watch out for - and how to get the liner into it![]()
