I don't know what the problem is. The piping is not great, so you could try operating on skimmer only, and see if that causes the pump to run more quietly.
Also, the pump itself looks pretty old - some types of pump wear can cause noise, as can trash caught in the impeller. But, some of those old pumps were pretty noisy when they were new.
