    Default Green Water

Hello, I came here because I have had the worst luck maintaining my pool. I will shock it, and add chlorine, yet I still have problems with the water turning green. Any advice?

Yes, we can help you. I'm assuming there's nothing urgent, though? Pool season in Indiana is still a couple of months away.

Here's what we need to know, to start with:

+ What kind of pool do you have?
+ What kind of filter (sand, DE, cartridge) and pump?
    + How many gallons?
+ How do you test your water?
+ Do you have any 'gadgets' on your pool: salt water chlorine generator, Nature2, 'mineral' or copper devices or additives?

Oh, and if you have pictures of the pool and pump/filter, please mail them to

    and I'll post them.
