I have a Century 2 speed B979 motor. It will turn on low speed now but, will not turn on high speed. Is there replacable switch ? Possibly in the covered bump on top the motor ? I am hoping this is tehsolution and now a new pump.

Here's the AO Smith master service manual:

Unfortunately, more that that I don't really know. Specs here suggest there is a switch for low speed, but not high . . . though I don't know how that works.

We'll have to wait for Poconos. I do believe the unit has a low speed circuit, unless the switch is just bad.

I alerted him to look at this thread.
I'm not familiar with these 2-speed motors at all. But, that 'covered bump' on top that you refer to is just the starting capacitor. Looking at the external wiring on the B979 drawing from here

it looks like you connect to either the high or low speed windings via an external single pole double throw switch. Could be that switch is bad in the high speed position OR something else is open in the high speed circuit. Does it make any sound at all when in the high speed mode?
