Depth of Pool Returns

I am going to tackle the replacement of my flexible PVC returns with rigid PVC. How deep do I need to place the return lines in NJ?

I'd call a local plumber, and find out what a safe depth for water lines is, there. They'll actually have more experience with seeing frozen underground pipes, than pool guys will.

I'm not sure what the depth is here in NJ. I know my sprinkler lines are down about 6-8" and they need to be blown out every year.
