    Just trying to understand the difference between what dirt looks like and dead algae looks like in the bottom of the pool

    Dirt, pollen and dead algae both tend to be brown. Dead algae tends to be 'fluffy-er'.

    But, if you haven't had LIVE green or mustard (yellow-brown, but in thin patches that do NOT float away if you wave your hand near them), you probably don't have dead algae.

    Okay, Thanks

    Hoping it is dust, since I live in Phoenix, although I was not awre of a storm yesterday. Came home from vaca yesterday, to alot in pool, vacced it up, and some more was there this a.m. I did shock last night, as I wasnt here for two weeks.
